January, 2005
Just a reminder that the
Annual Homeowners’ Meeting will be on Sunday, March 20, 2005 at 7:00 PM in the
Party Center. Please mark you calendar
and try to attend. If you are unable to
attend, PLEASE SEND IN YOUR PROXY because 51% of the total association votes
are needed for the board to be valid and continue to represent our association.
BOARD MEMBERS
We are in desperate
need for new board members. There are
only a couple individuals in the association who are performing all the tasks
needed to keep our association running.
If board members cannot be found, there is the possibility of our
association being turned over to a management company who would manage our
spending and possible increase our dues.
We need your help now!
Association Dues
The 2005 MGPOA invoices
for annual dues have been included in this mailing. Note that the proxy is on the back of the invoice. We are pleased to announce that there is no
increase for 2005. Payment due by
03/15/05 is $185.00. Payments received
after 03/15/05 and before 05/31/05 will be $200.00. If payment is not received before 06/01/05, legal action will be
taken. Remember that these dues are
separate from the MGPOA Condo Association dues.
Party Center News
During the spring
flooding, our party center was flooded with approximately 3 inches of
water. All of the outside landscaping
was washed away and much debris was deposited.
Fast action by some board members saved the carpeting and tile floors by
vacuuming up water, scrubbing/disinfecting the tile floors, and daily emptying
a dehumidifier for 3 weeks. Let’s hope
spring of 2005 will be kinder to our building.
Party Center rentals are
available by calling Jane at 225-1326.
There are 10 tables and 60 chairs.
The maximum capacity set by the city is for 50 people so keep that in
mind if you are planning a party. Cost
for residents is $65.00 in addition to a $200.00 deposit.
Vandalism
Certain individuals
believe that our entrance strip is the local garbage dump. Please keep your eyes open for anyone you
see tossing unwanted cans, food items, etc. and try to get a license plate
number and vehicle description for the police.
It’s a shame that we have to continually pick up after these
inconsiderate violators.
The development entrance
light fixtures were broken twice last year plus the bulbs were removed or
smashed. If you happened to drive into
the development when the lights were out, you probably noticed that it was so
dark that it was easy to miss the entrance.
Other vandalism includes
the light on the roof of the party center being broken by someone throwing
pieces of wood on the roof, several holes in the party center windows from a BB
gun, planted plants being pulled up, and the constant dumping of garbage. The Brunswick Police are trying to patrol
our area on a more frequent basis to try and discourage this vandalism.
Improvements
Last summer a concrete pad
was poured by the pool and party center.
This summer we plan to build a pavilion with picnic tables and maybe a
grill.
We are currently receiving
quotes for painting the inside of the party center and re-covering the furniture. A microwave and double pot coffee maker are
recent additions.
We hope to improve the MGPOA website and keep it up to date on a regular basis with association news. https://mgpoabrunswick.tripod.com/index.html
